ORION DDoS Threat Protection adds a critical layer of security to protect Ontario’s research, education, and innovation ecosystem.
As distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks continue to rise, the risk to your operations, reputation, and even bottom line also increase. ORION DDoS Threat Protection monitors ORION network traffic, detecting and mitigating DDoS threats, providing alerts and reporting when an attack happens. Provided to all ORION constituents as part of our improved network services, ORION DDoS Threat Protection ensures the safety and security of your organization’s networks, servers, and network-connected applications.
How does it work?
ORION’s network security experts manage ORION DDoS Threat Protection 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, monitoring and detecting attacks in the network itself before they reach your premises. We use a powerful cybersecurity system that provides intelligent detection of suspicious network traffic from cyber attackers and botnets that cause denial-of-service.
ORION DDoS Threat Protection quickly detects:
- Volumetric attacks
- State-exhaustion attacks
- Asymmetric attacks
- Computational attacks
- Vulnerability attacks
- Network-layer attacks
Once detected, our network security experts will notify you of significant incidents, mitigate the attack, and follow up with a comprehensive incident report. This gives your IT team the insights required to maintain control of your network and make well-informed decisions about cybersecurity. You will also receive an annual institutional summary report that provides a detailed overview of all DDoS alerts to help you keep your network running smoothly.
Key benefits:
- Provides high-quality protection
- ORION’s inline system detects and stops threats targeting your network
- No additional on-site equipment, software, or intervention required
- Safeguards your vital network-connected applications including domain name servers, e-commerce, email, video, and voice
- Mitigates against DDoS attacks to help avoid breaches which can cripple your network and cause downtime
- Allows your staff and network to stay focused on your core business
