ORION has announced a transition within its Board of Directors. Bo Wandschneider has stepped down to focus his energies on other priorities within his portfolio. ORION is pleased to welcome Brad Strom as a Director.
Bo Wandschneider, Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the University of Toronto, has played an instrumental role in supporting the mission of ORION and the successful amalgamation of ORION and GTAnet. Bo’s valuable insights, expertise, and guidance have left a lasting impact on the organization and the broader community.
Jim Garner, Board Chair, expressed gratitude for Bo’s contributions, stating, “We thank Bo for his service during a critical time including as a member of the GTAnet negotiating team, and as an ORION Board member following the successful merger of ORION and GTAnet.”
Brad Strom, currently serving as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at York University, brings over 25 years of executive management experience and more than 16 years of digital strategy and information technology expertise. His leadership at SaskPower as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Technology and Security, demonstrates a track record of successful organizational transformation through the strategic adoption and management of IT solutions, and enterprise-level governance.
Jim Garner commented on Brad’s appointment, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Brad whose diverse background and extensive experience will strengthen our ability to serve the research and education community effectively.”
Brad holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems from Carleton University and has completed many professional development training programs in leadership and information technology. His strategic vision and commitment to meaningful change through effective partnerships align seamlessly with ORION’s goals.
