Toronto, March 30, 2015 – The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) is excited to welcome Jeff Grieve to the ORION Board of Directors; a consensus-building community leader with deep knowledge of the technological needs and digital infrastructure challenges in higher education institutions.
“Building a connected province mean partnerships across all kinds of institutions,” remarks Darin Graham, President and CEO of ORION. “Universities incubate a significant segment of Ontario’s research and innovation, so it’s important that our Board understand their specific challenges. Jeff brings great expertise in this area, completing our Board’s breadth of experience, and helping steer ORION as we build an even stronger backbone for Ontario’s knowledge economy.”
Jeff currently serves as Executive Director of Information Technology Services at Western University, Executive Director of London & Region Global Network (LARG*net), and is an active member of the Ontario University Council of Chief Information Officers (OCCIO), as well as the Canadian University Council of CIOs (CUCCIO). He was previously Senior Manager, Information Technology at TD Bank. In these roles, Jeff has had the opportunity to both facilitate and leverage various joint technology initiatives which deliver cross functional benefit to Western University, Fanshawe College, and London’s research hospitals as well as other universities within Ontario and across Canada. At LARG*net, he also integrates and supports London’s business interests with LARG*net’s technology skills, partnerships, and relationships.
“Working and collaborating within Western as well as with my university peers from Ontario and across Canada to support critical campus network infrastructure gives me a unique perspective that I can bring to the ORION Board,” says Jeff. “I look forward to leveraging this and my regional connectivity experiences in London to help ORION scale its impact on improved digital infrastructure for Ontario.”
Hear more about how Jeff and other leaders are collaborating to improve digital connectivity for Ontario’s citizens at the 2015 THINK Conference on April 21st in Toronto, where we’ll “Create Possibilities” in the research, education and innovation field.
